I didn't always love piano. As a young girl, practice was quite a chore. But I fell in love with piano as a young teen and a few years later I began composing music. I was so glad to have the piano knowledge I needed for that, so I am very grateful for the early years. But those early years also taught me to look for ways to make piano lessons as fun and inspiring as possible for every age and level. Yes, sometimes we have to practice when we don't feel like it, but I really strive to make piano super enjoyable!
I graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University where I studied piano, music composition, and music theory. While there I was research assistant to Dr. Ellie Hisama and upon graduation I was recipient of The Ohio State University Excellence in the Arts Award.
I began teaching in 2000. In 2002 I opened my studio in Centreville Virginia and began to teach full time. In 2007 I moved to Rochester NY to be near family. I have been happily teaching here ever since.
